Conclusion: APS in Review

We’ve reached the end. Every step in the CCA has taught me something, or helped me develop my skills. Throughout the year, this assignment has taught me lessons in business, APS, as well as work ethic. Prior to working on this project I really never thought about connections between anthropology, psychology, and sociology towards the real world. I now really appreciate the fields of APS in relation to how they explain and influence the modern world in today’s age.

The first CCA step shed a new light on business and marketing for me, revealing the underneath workings behind understanding the interactions and relationships between consumers, companies, and any middle-men.

The second CCA step placed a new task in front of me. Understanding and answering questions on an articles reliability and it’s content, although straightforward, was a challenge for me. This improved my familiarity with any similar tasks, such as CCA step 4

CCA step 4 was personally my favorite CCA step to finish. It allowed me to enter a new environment, learn about marketing from a professional perspective, and taught me how to analyze and annotate a peer-reviewed journal. This step really exposed me to the amount of complexity and detail put into each peer-reviewed journal and pushed me to learn more about the subject.

Every CCA step helped me in some way, teaching me a lesson, or allowing me to further develop myself. I’m very thankful that I was able to do this assignment as a whole, as I will be taking my newly learned skills with me moving forward in life.

CCA Step 2: Marketing In The News

CCA step 2 involved taking an objective look at an article relating to marketing in the news and analyzing it’s information, reliability, and relevance to APS. This type of assignment relatively new to me compared to the first CCA step and as such, I had a harder time answering the questions presented regarding the news article. However, overcoming this brief challenge has allowed me to develop my analyzation skills into the objectivity of bias within an article as well as the overall content relating to marketing and PMGs. The article focused on the psychological standpoint of a customer when looking at PMG branded item in relation to the reality and how the difference in symbolic interactionism between a consumer and company allows for implied benefits regardless of actuality. Reading this article gave me further insight into how a company’s strategic marketing tactics can influence and mislead customers such as myself into purchasing their product or service, and how cultural lifestyles and established customs lead to different pathways in marketing. Overall, though difficult in a sense, this CCA step has developed my skills in answering questions and writing reports relating to the reliability and relevance of an article, while also giving me further awareness and understanding of the marketing world and PMGs.CCA step 2 involved taking an objective look at an article relating to marketing in the news and analyzing it’s information, reliability, and relevance to APS. CCA Step 4: Credibility and Reliability in Academic Journals

This step in the CCA exposed me to an abundance of new knowledge and a higher understanding of what an academic journal was. The first challenge presented to me when beginning step 4 was the selection of the article. It took a considerable amount of time to find a suitable article that had a substantial amount of information, related to marketing, and appeased to the general rubric of the assignment itself. After searching for through multiple databases using multiple methods I finally decided on Video Content Marketing: The Making Of Clips, by Xuan Li, Savannah Wei Shi, Thales Teixeira, and Michel Wedel.

Throughout the process of annotating the relevance section of the bibliography, I not only became proficient at annotating and analyzing peer-reviewed journals but also came to learn about how researchers developed and tested their methods in order to come to an applicable conclusion. Reading this article allowed me to come to appreciate the depth and detail possible within a small niche topic. Something as simple as showing short clips could be broken down into audio and visual analyzation, customer retention, customer perception, and a variety of other independent and dependent variables. In addition, annotating the reliability section of the article lead me into deeper insight regarding the reliability of different sources, whether it be media or scientific sources. I now know a considerable amount more relating to academic articles and their reliability in comparison to before. This step in the CCA exposed me to an abundance of new knowledge and a higher understanding of what an academic journal was. CCA Step 1: Marketing In APS?

Step 1 of the assigned APS CCA involved finding a career pathway that was heavily involved in or related to the disciplines of psychology, sociology, or anthropology. My immediate response was to find a job commonly associated with the APS disciplines such as teaching, or a job in human/social services. However, I decided on relating the role of a Marketing Manager to APS. Throughout the process, I learned about how symbolic interactionism, sociology, and psychology play a huge role in a marketing manager’s responsibilities and actions and about how the business world as a whole is interconnected to the studies of sociology.
As a student who aligns his interests in the STEM field and passionate in pursuing the maths and computer science the completion of this assignment really opened my eyes to the field of business and marketing. Ultimately, the concept of marketing is directly related to satisfying and creating relationships between a brand and customer while sociology is defined as the study of societies and patterns within social relationships. The ideas and philosophy behind sociology determine how marketing can be best carried out. Throughout the process of completing this CCA step I have learned about fundamental concepts in both Marketing and APS while simultaneously applying and relating the two fields. By using APS, one can reveal efficient methods and strategies within marketing.

The function of sociology, as of every science, is to reveal that which is hidden.
